After much delay since the MCF ID registration started in 2022, the Malaysian Chess Federation has now decided to launch the LIFETIME Registration for players who are keen chess enthusiasts or those who prefer to make a single payment instead of repeating the process every two (2) years.
The Lifetime registration is RM200 per person, and the registration process (or renewal) remains the same, as applicants are required to enter their personal details, tick the appropriate box, and attach proof of payment for the requested amount. Those who sign up between now and 1st October 2026 will also get to choose 3 gifts from MCF – either a limited MCF Chess Board, an MCF T-Shirt, or a free entry to one of MCF’s Monthly GP Series events. Players can sign up for these gifts once their applications are approved by clicking a link provided when receiving their Lifetime Certificate.
The RM20 Player Registration Fee remains as an option for players who are unsure if they will continue playing chess, especially for students still figuring out if chess is a sport they will continue playing or focus on after their school years. The two (2) year registration fee is also a good option for players who are not active in the local scene and participate only at selected MCF events. Hence, the RM20 can be paid as and when the need arises.
MCF ID is a must-have requirement when playing in MCF events or in any national events used as selection platforms for the national squads, such as the Malaysian Chess Championship, National Youths and Age Groups events, and the National Junior events. While many independent organizers do not impose any requirement on players to have an MCF ID when playing in their event, the demand to have one is growing in numbers, and the requirement may become more popular in the near future.
For now, the MCF Rating performance has been updated as of 1st July 2026, and the next round of updates shall be on the 1st of August 2026
Currently, there are more than 6,000 players registered in the MCF Rating list, and MCF hopes to achieve more than 10,000 players by the end of 2026/early 2027
