Preparation of Teachers (PoT) Program 2025 – In Conjunction with the Commonwealth Chess Championship

The Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) is pleased to announce the upcoming Preparation of Teachers (PoT) Program, which will be held from 12th to 14th November 2025 (Wednesday to Friday) at De King Hotel KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, alongside the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2025.

This special three-day educational program is designed for teachers, educators, and chess coaches who wish to explore and integrate chess as a learning tool within the classroom environment. Participants who complete the course and pass the subsequent examination will be awarded the FIDE School Instructor Certificate, officially accredited by the World Chess Federation (FIDE).

About the Program

The PoT Program aims to empower teachers to use chess as a method of developing critical thinking, decision-making, and concentration skills among students. The course will introduce practical teaching strategies and educational methodologies that demonstrate how chess can support cognitive growth and problem-solving both inside and outside the classroom.

The program will be facilitated by Mr. Jerry Nash, Chairman of the FIDE Chess in Education Commission (EDU). Based in Tennessee, USA, Mr. Nash is a lifelong educator and internationally recognized advocate for using chess as an educational tool. He has conducted numerous teacher training workshops worldwide and is passionate about helping educators discover the benefits of chess for student learning and engagement.

Mr. Nash is also excited to visit Malaysia and connect with local teachers, coaches, and the chess community.
