MCF concluded its first U2400 Open Standard Event (Series 1) last weekend with 30 hopefuls signing up to play which included a member of the Malaysian Olympiad Team – Muhammad Syakir Shazmeer, and one of Malaysia’s leading lady, WFM Ainul Mardhiah Mohd Afif. 6 rounds were played deploying a time control of 60 minutes plus 30 seconds increment per game with RM1,400 prize fund offered.
The event also saw the participation of a pair of Russian and Italian players who are on holiday in Malaysia with Russian Aleksey Klimov clinching the Best Veteran prize. Other winners at the event were:
